Our black wildfire morels are a selection of closely related species that are foraged from recent wildfire areas. They are the most common type of morel to find following a fire in western North America, and they are a top choice when itcomes to edible mushrooms. This grouping of species if often referred to as "Conicas" in the field.
The meaty texture and rich flavour of morels has been celebrated worldwide for thousands of years. One of the reasons that dried morels are so great, is because they rehydrate better than almost any other mushrooms.
Submerge for 10 minutes in water, then rinse prior to cooking.
It takes 10lbs of fresh morels to make 1lb of dried morels on average.
